UMB works around the world to enhance capacity of governments, Regional and District Health Management Teams to improve the quality of health services through targeted technical assistance, systems development and institutionalization of quality improvement initiatives. In Tanzania, UMB works through its affiliate, Maryland Global Initiatives Tanzania (MGIT) a not for profit organization.
UMB has teamed up with Amref Health Africa to implement a Comprehensive HIV Care and Treatment project aimed at acceleration of achieving the 95-95-95 goals for HIV Epidemic control and building of sustainable health systems for optimized population-wide health outcomes. The project which is branded as Afya Kamilifu Project received funding from the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through CDC Tanzania and will be implemented in Tanga Regiona and Zanzibar Islands. UMB and Amref Health Africa will work under the guidance and close collaboration of CDC Tanzania, Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Zanzibar Ministry of health, President’s Office Regions Authority and Local Government (PORALG), RHMTs, CHMTs, Health facilities and other stakeholders for successful implementation of the Afya Kamilifu Project.

MGIT is advertising for the following position to support its work under this project, and invites all qualified candidates to apply:
POSITION: PMTCT and EID Officer - 4 Positions
REPORTS TO: Regional Project Manager
LOCATION: Tanga
JOB SUMMARY
The PMTCT/EID officer will work under the leadership of the Regional Project Manager and Technical oversight of the PMTCT/EID advisor in all technical matters related to PMTCT and EID. S/he will be responsible for R/CHMT and facility level oversight of day to day PMTCT and EID services while providing technical assistance, capacity building and coordination of related activities. S/He will work closely with the technical team, R/CHMT, facilities and other stakeholders in implementing timely, effective, efficient and high-quality services to ensure PMTCT and EID specific 95-95-95 targets are achieved.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in any Health-Related Field such as M.D, or Nursing
· Experience in public health programming will be an added advantage
· Experience with Donor- funded projects is highly desirable
· At least 3 years’ experience working with local health facilities in matters related to PMTCT and EID
· Experiences in Data Demand and Information Use
· Ability to work independently and manage various tasks in a team setting
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili

- Work with Health facilities in the implementation of high-quality PMTCT activities in the supported region
- Spearhead PMTCT/EID specific efforts for HIV diagnosis, linkage, treatment and retention for maximized patient outcomes
- Work with the PMTCT advisor and the Regional Program Manager to coordinate training and capacity building of Health care workers on PMTCT and EID services
- Co-ordinate supportive supervision and mentoring visits to the health facilities with the R/CHMTs and aid in the development of PMTCT and EID specific improvement plans
- Work closely with the facilities, CSO and communities to develop effective tracking mechanisms for lost to follow-up of Pregnant and lactating mothers and Exposed infants
- Support implementation and monitoring of progress on agreed deliverables as per annual work plan and offer required course of action towards achieving the targets at the facility level
- Participate in the preparation of the quarterly and annual reports, best practices, presentations and narratives which Afya Kamilifu efforts to provide quality care.
- Analyze data from supported facilities and identify gaps in PMTCT/EID and work closely with the QI team to implement interventions towards addressing issues identified
- Support integration of PMTCT/EID activities within the R/CHMT’s and facility Quality Improvement plans
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
