OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
For
the maternal and newborn health including family planning activities,
the incumbent has the duty of: 1. Reviewing and analyzing national
maternal and newborn health policies, strategies, programmes and related
legislation; 2. Coordinating maternal and newborn health care
activities and Establishing and coordinating effective partnerships with
key stakeholders and donor agencies.; 3. Assisting and advising the
national maternal and newborn health including family planning task
force in the development ofStrategies; 4. Providing technical assistance
in the development of operational plans and tools for MNH and
facilitating the dissemination of plans and relevant tools.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
In
collaboration with all agencies actively involved in MNH, assists the
Ministry of Health to plan an effective MCH/FP programme, advocating the
participative and integrated approach, within the PHC development
process.In collaboration with the MCH/FP Division, organizes training
seminars/workshops and meetings to train health personnel and to
strengthen management at central, intermediate, district and local
levels. 3. Networks with other related programmes (such as Nutrition,
EPI, Malaria, HIV/AIDS, CDD, ARI and others) with the aim of improving
maternal and child health indicators 4.
Promotes operational research on MCH/FP and assists national officials
at all levels and the community in the development and implementation of
such projects Provides technical support to the monitoring and the
periodical evaluations of HFA Global and AFRO indicators relating to
Safe Motherhood and Child Survival and Development. 6. Supports the
Ministry of Health in planning and implementing a supplementary and
therapeutic feeding programme and providing assistance in reproductive
health intended to groups of vulnerable populations (young children,
pregnant and lactating women and adolescents) affected by
disastersPrepares progress reports of activities undertaken. 8. Performs

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Education
Essential: Degree in Medicine. Postgraduate degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology, or Advance degree in Nursing/Midwifery.
Desirable: Postgraduate degree in Public Health (M.P.H.)

Experience
Essential: Some years of practical experience in planning, implementing, monitoring and supervising health programmes, particularly MCH/FP activities at national level.
Desirable: Limited years of professional experience in bilateral or multilateral organizations.
Skills
Excellent knowledge in MCH/FP programme management.Proven competency in modern training skills and/or epidemiological research.

REMUNERATION
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at TZS 134,416,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
