Job Description

Core Program responsibilities
• Support incentive staffs in conducting activities in CFS/SHLS in Nyarugusu camp.
• Conduct interviews to children and follow up for Best Interest
Assessment and Best Interest Determination forms completion in
collaboration with the Child Protection Supervisor, ensuring quality
output
• Support UNHCR during the BID/BIA Intervention and other related cases
• Provision of psychosocial services and social emotional learning.
Other Program responsibilities
• Manage overall child protection activities at the camp level in collaboration with the Child Protection Supervisor.
• Develop the project action plan (according to the specific
psychosocial needs of the children) and monitor its implementation with
the support of IRC partners and the animators.
• To coordinate foster parents groups.
• To carry out trainings to foster parents and caregivers on parenting skills
• Work closely with community based officer in carrying out regular awareness on child protection matters
• Support children groups/ clubs in at the Safe Healing and Learning Spaces in talent development.
• When needed and on occasional basis, carry out public relations
activities, which include accompanying foreign visitors and donors to
the project.
• Ensure cleanliness at the SHLS and observe child safeguarding at all SHLS
• Fully engage with children and parents that attend the SHLS
• Data collection and data entry to share with the M&E department
• Identify the needs of the most vulnerable children and means for support
• Carry out verification of Most vulnerable children (MVC)
• In collaboration with tracing unit facilitate family reunification and fostering of unaccompanied minors.
• Mobilize and support the functionality of community and child
protection community based structure to advocate for the child rights in
the camp,
• Mobilize the children living alone to encourage and accept fostering.
• Plan and conduct meetings, trainings and awareness campaigns in relation to child care and child protection, child hygiene
• Ensure and support child participation at all stages of programming.
• Monitor activities conducted by other Child Protection refugee staffs(Animators) in the camp
• Provide guidance and support to refugee incentive staff (animators)
on the community mobilization, counseling, recreational activities and
other child protection activities.
• Coordinate with other IRC
sectors and NGOs present in the camp in community mobilization, referral
systems and create awareness in an integrated manner.
• Track the cases reported at the office and within the community,
• Prepare work plans, monthly/weekly/quarterly and semiannual as requested by CP-S.
• Track the PSS and referral list of children and send it to CP-S
• Update SC/UAMs and other MVC list in monthly basis and send it to CP-S
• Ensure proper documentation on each child file.
• Participate in coordination meetings as assigned by supervisor.

Personnel Management
• Supervise refugee incentive staff as needed
• Prepare staff duty roster and monitored staff adherence to program objectives as needed
• Oversee welfare and discipline of refugee incentive staff in coordination with CP-S
• File and ensure all incentive staff weekly reports are well documented
General Responsibilities
• Attend and participate in trainings identified and organized by your Manager
• Follow any new procedures and guidelines designed in circulars from Country Director
• Report any violations of the IRC Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Code of Conduct (Tanzania and Worldwide) as per the IRC Tanzania reporting mechanism.
• Assist where necessary in undertaking activities that aim to prevent the occurrence of sexual abuse and exploitation of refugees by IRC and other humanitarian workers
• Represent IRC at different meetings as will be assigned
• Assist in control and proper usage of stationery and other items relating to work
• Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
• Bachelor Degree in social work or relevant social science with at least a year of relevant working experience in social work and protection.
• Experience working with children and youth, and especially vulnerable children desirable.
• Basic IT skills: knowledge of MS Word; Excel and Outlook required.
• Knowledge in Safe Healing and Learning spaces management.
• Proactive
• Swahili and basic English skills required. French and Kiha a plus
• Familiar with core principles of Children Rights, Participation, Do No Harm, Community and Family Support as well as Children in Emergencies minimum standards.
• Ability to cope and work under pressure
• Excellent facilitation skills
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
