ABOUT RESTLESS DEVELOPMENT
We
know young people have the power to solve the challenges we face in our
world, but they are being sidelined. We are the agency that works with
young people so they can lead in solving those challenges. Whether that
means supporting communities to end child marriage or prevent HIV, we
work with young people to change their lives and the lives of people in
their communities. Our programmes are genuinely life-changing, but can’t
do any of this without talented, creative individuals at every level of
our organisation.
OUR APPROACH TO SAFEGUARDING
Restless
Development considers the welfare and protection of children, young
people and vulnerable adults to be an organisational imperative with
primacy over the success of programmes or strategic objectives. We
recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and we expect
all of our staff, volunteers and partners to ensure we protect the
communities in which we operate from harm and abide by our Safeguarding Policy.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Restless Development is recruiting Youth Volunteers to participate in an exchange project between our Tanzania, Nepal and South
African
Restless Development Hubs. As a Youth Volunteer you will be fully
funded to travel to one of the above countries (other than your home
country) for a period of 3 months, and then return to share learnings in
your home country for 3 months.
MODE OF APPLICATION: APPLY ONLINE
The exchange project, titled ‘Youth Take the Lead’ aims to deliver three major results:
1.
Increased capacity of participants to engage CSOs by learning the best
practices in the host country and transferring the knowledge to the
civil society in their home country upon return.
2. Generating evidence on youth leadership from the pool of Restless Development Alumni and sharing it with external community.
3.
Developing an advocacy plan working in collaboration with the team in
host country and then implementing it in the home country by mobilizing
other alumni of Restless Development. All activities designed to achieve these results require the participants to learn as well as contribute to strengthening the organizational functions particularly engagement of CSOs and alumni through their knowledge and resources.
The participants will have a set of activities to complete both during and after the exchange. Through this exchange project, the participants will also be able to contribute towards organizational development by consolidating best practices document and supporting in the wider level dissemination to other Restless Development hubs including the partner hubs and relevant CSOs. During the follow-up period returned volunteers will be responsible for sharing what they have learnt and the documents that they have produced with other staff and youth Alumni.
