OAF
through the Give Direct program seeks to understand the impact and cost
effectiveness of distributing a bundle of product interventions to
households, free of charge, that are designed to increase or improve
income, savings, health and nutrition outcomes. Effective execution of
this program will require huge government support at the national,
regional and district levels.
The
Local Government Health Officer position will therefore offer great
opportunities in improving health and nutrition outcomes of One Acre
Fund households. It will also
give an opportunity to closely work with government relations nutrition
specialist, the wider government relations team, and the Give Directly
team, to oversee successful trials of new products and services within
the One Acre Fund farmer network.
Specific Responsibilities;
• To work closely with the GR nutrition specialist in spearheading MoU process in areas of operation
• Build and maintain relations with health management officials in all regions and districts of our operations.
• Support the initial outreach with new regions and districts ensuring they are fully engaged and supportive of our operations.
• Organize field visits with government health officials during program launch and routine informational field visits.
•
Act as a point person in handling One Acre Fund’s health referral
system and work closely with health facilities located within areas of
operation.
•
Work with Direct Giving team in the coordination and monitoring of One
Acre Fund’s health interventions, with close collaboration from regions
and district health officials.
•
Provide regular and consistent technical support during trainings and
supervision of Ministry of Health (MoH) medical personnel.
•
Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly nutrition reports
presented to regions, district health management teams and any available
technical working groups
• Track renewals of all regulatory and government approvals
• Monitor any existing expected and unexpected severe adverse events reported by field teams
• Provide a variety of health administrative support functions

QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking a candidate with strong work experience and a strong educational experience. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:
• Strong background in community development, public health, nutrition or any health related science course
• Should be a registered member by the Tanzania Nutrition Dietetics Institute if a nutritionist
• Fluency with nutritional local trends including maternal and child health.
• Exceptional leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills, passionate professional who can combine strong leadership skills with patience and a humble approach
• Should be flexible and willing to travel across southern East region of Tanzania
• Good computer skills
• At least 2 years’ experience working with an NGO or a government entity in providing technical assistance
• Language: English and Swahili

Singida, Tanzania, with frequent travel to other One Acre Fund Tanzania locations
