Position: Digital Media Officer
Job Description: Who we are:- Tanzania Development Lightening Initiative
(TDLI) is a non-governmental and non-profit making organization. TDLI
is registered under the Non-Governmental Act No.24 of 2002 with a
national wide operating licence.
TDLI has a Vision: a society with people centred development, equality and justice.
Today, most marginalized communities in Tanzania live in extreme poverty
where women, children and people with disability are victims of
inequality and injustice of different forms. Our Strategy explains what
TDLI will be doing to contribute to addressing those challenges,
complementing efforts by the government and other development players
towards a sustainable and just society without poverty.
With our head office in Dar es Salaam, we are currently implementing
education programme in Mwanza where we work with local communities and
selected schools to support access to education for underprivileged
children particularly girls. From April 2019, the Organisation will
start working in Dodoma as another target region in efforts to
contribute to increasing access and quality of pre- primary and primary
education.
Contract type: Fixed Term, 1 year contract.

Job Purpose
Works closely with Digital Media Advisor to create engaging content for
TDLI’s social media presence, including keeping social media channels
updated and brand-focused, and seeking out new social media avenues and
ways of connecting with supporters and beneficiaries. This is the basis
for all programmes
TDLI is taking advantage of the development in Information and
Communication Technology, and experience of its executive team in
digital campaigning and online engagement, therefore, social media forms
an integral part of TDLI programming.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages TDLI social media channels, including website, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other relevant platforms
- Engages in social media presence creation on new and emerging social media platforms
- Creates dynamic written, graphic, and video content
- Optimizes content following search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC)
- Creates content that promotes audience interaction, increases audience presence on company sites, and encourages audience participation
- Assists social media management with large projects, events, and community management
- Works as part of a team to develop large social media campaigns
- Analyses and reports audience information and demographics, and success of existing social media projects
- Proposes new ideas and concepts for social media content
- Works with marketing and social media team members to coordinate ad campaigns with social media strategy
- Writes and distributes e-newsletters to subscribers
- Manages social media communications
- Uses timelines and scheduled content to create a consistent stream of new content for audience interaction while analyzing, managing, and altering schedules where necessary to optimize visits
- Ensuring maintenance and regular updates of the organization’s web site, consisting of; In co-ordination with other members of staff, continuously monitoring the development of the site; and, Maintaining the quality and relevance of information, including updating the site as required, in consultation with the Digital Media Advisor and Programme Manager.
- Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports.

Digital Media Officer Skills and Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
- Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
- Basic knowledge on Social Media Campaign designing and execution
- A passion for staying abreast of digital trends across the spectrum is preferred.
- Very good communication skills (speaking, report writing and presenting in English and Kiswahili).
- Experience or knowledge of Tanzania dynamics.
- Knowledge of CMS website softwares
- Experience with high-quality digital imaging.
- Prior work experience gained in any position involving contact with customers or the general public may be advantageous.

This is a Volunteer position with minimum monthly subsistence allowance. A salaried contract will be provided subject to availability of funds.
